Shine Conference was birthed about 30 years ago, from a cry in my heart. One day I was Christmas shopping - I was a young mom, rushing about, frazzled, frowning... but... I was wearing my famous ‘Jesus is the Reason for the Season’ pin. At one checkout counter, a guy read my pin and said something to the effect of, “Ma’am I think you need to apply some of that Jesus joy to your face.” That made my heart so sad... I knew something needed to change! Honestly, I was tired of feeling joyless in life. Shortly after at a Wednesday night service, I poured out my heart to God saying, “I want to live with so much joy that I can’t help but spill it out onto others & shine like a light in this dark world, the same way you did Jesus!”

God heard my cry and I began to realize that I'm not the only one - everybody longs to live with joy! The only hope people have of living with real joy is receiving Jesus... & so often, we as Christ followers, are the only evidence there is for them to see the joy Jesus brings! Of course – we can’t give away what we don’t have. So, I got with our team & we decided to create an environment where women can come together to worship God - be loved on - healed – have fun & be pampered - and learn how to shine! We developed pillars that would guide us with this goal of SHINE-ing Jesus more brightly: Value. Freedom. Generations. Purpose. Outreach. God cares about his beloved daughters embracing these pillars so we are empowered to rise up and take our place as part of the solution of bringing heaven to earth everywhere we go.

It's been incredibly rewarding and humbling to see lives transformed, for the last 25 years. Never in a million years could I have imagined the stories I'd hear, or the tears I'd share with those filled with gratitude for the way this conference has touched them to the core. Countless girls from every background and stage in life have been impacted and empowered to lead and love at higher levels as a result of SHINE.

All these years later, I cannot express how thankful I feel that God heard my desperate cry for more of Jesus, and a way to bring more of Him to this world. Through SHINE, I've seen the intimate ways God has touched His daughters hearts, bringing true value and freedom. I've witnessed the next generation of girls begin the journey of grabbing the baton to carry Jesus into their areas of influence. I am blown away at the number of women, who have purposefully charted new territory and taken ground for the cause of Christ. And I have witnessed an outpouring of generosity, sacrifice, and compassion on behalf of those who have no voice in our community and around the world.

This is why SHINE exists.
